Crohn's Disease

Crohn's Disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract. With Crohn's, your immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells, causing excess inflammation. The cause is currently unknown, but genetics and environment are said to be factors in its development.

Crohn's is an invisible illness, as symptoms are typically not visible from the outside. Symptoms go beyond physical discomfort, including anxiety, depression, brain fog, and fatigue. The stigma of this disease can cause shame and embarrassment, which can be difficult to discuss with others.
