In a Flash

Hello lovely people! I have an exciting update!!

I have spoken before about my struggle with using faux fur yarn and how I was unsure of what I could feasibly make with it. Well, I am happy to announce that I have discovered what was destined to be crafted with this yarn! Drum roll, please… 🥁

Introducing Woolly Bear Caterpillar 🐛🪩💃

Tell me this isn’t the cutest thing you have ever seen?!

I had been staring at the skeins of yarn in my stash for what felt like ages. And then, out of nowhere, a memory flashed before my eyes.

Let me take you back to the early 2000s Indiana corn fields, where I was born and raised. Growing up in the fields meant you had to make your own entertainment. Enter: playing outside. I know, it can be hard to imagine it these days. We did not have computers to occupy our wandering minds, so we took to the great outdoors. This is where I found my love of fuzzy tiny creatures. Everywhere I looked there seemed to be these soft little guys crawling around, so naturally I said “Climb aboard, we’re a team now!” And climb aboard they did. I used to have these guys crawling all over me, not a care in the world. It was me and my woolly bears until the end.

Recalling these memories took me by surprise, because now I would definitely freak out if I noticed any insect trying to hitch a ride on my person. Oh, Little Grace, how the times have changed!

Once I remembered these sweet creatures, I knew I must pay homage to them and create plushies in their honor.

I also had no trouble working with the yarn and a regular hook size while making this project. It was truly meant to be!

I hope you can help me celebrate these beings by cuddling up with a new furry friend and admiring the beauty in one of earth’s sweetest creatures.

I will never forget you again, little buddy. Thank you for your friendship, from your dear old friend from the fields.
